We are so delighted that you have chosen to visit Agape Christian Fellowship online! We trust that you will experience the Agape love as you are welcomed by our family. The word agape is a Greek word meaning "sacrificial love." This word can be found in the Bible all throughout the New Testament. This sacrificial love is expressing the love that Jesus displayed as He gave His life to save you and me.We are a Full Gospel believing church. We desire to base our lives on the Bible by pleasing the Lord Jesus Christ with every action and word that we speak. Our worship may be different than some are accustomed. We choose to offer up praises to the Lord God Almighty with song, dance, the lifting and clapping of hands, and the playing of many instruments that exalt the Lord Jesus. On this site you will find a virtual church brochure explaining everything about our church and style of worship. We hope we have answered any questions you may have but understand that you may have more. Please feel free to send us any questions through the use of our contacts page and be sure to put a contact email address so we can get back to you as quickly as possible. Thank you again and have a blessed day in Jesus name!

Our Story & Purpose
Our Pastor
Agape Christian Fellowship believes:1 In the verbal inspiration of the Bible from God the Father.2 In one God enternally existing in thre persons; namely, the Father,Son,and Holy Spirit.3 That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead; that He ascended to the right hand of the Father as the intercessor for His children.4 That all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sin.5 That the justification, regeneration, and new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus.6 In santification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the word, and the Holy Spirit.7 Holiness is to be God's standard of living for His people.8 In the baptism of the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean heart.9 In speaking with other tounges as the Spirit gives utterance, and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.10 In water baptism and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.11 Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.12 In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saint's feet.13 In the premillennial second-coming of Jesus. First to resurect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.14 In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous and and eternal punishment for the wicked.
Brief History:The first meeting of Agape Christian Fellowship was held on July 6, 1986 with thirty members in attendance. Six weeks later the congregation moved into a building on Hwy 431 in a small shopping center. In December of 1986, Agape followed God's direction and obtained the present location which is a two acre tract of land with four buildings. This new location is also found on Hwy 431 in Alexandria, AL. Please see the "Contact Us" tab for more specifics or questions.Mission Statement:Agape Christian Fellowship exists to exalt Jesus Christ in worship, to edify Christians through biblical teaching, to proclaim Christ to the lost, to demonstrate God's agape love, and to train and equip the saints to be disciples in the kingdom of God.Our Purpose:Agape is to be a place where the body of Christ (saints, redeemed, bornagain, saved, called out ones) meet to encourage one another as we walk in our faith in Jesus Christ. We come together to celebrate the Lord Jesus Christ with singing, clapping, lifting of hands, dancing, shouting, praising, and worship to our on and only redeemer:Ephesians 4:12-16: We come together to prepare ourselves for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith, and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is Christ. From Him the whole body. joined together by every supporting ligamnet, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.We come together to minister to each other, love, forgive, and demonstrate the Agape love of God!
Lynn's Testimony:Pastor Lynn was born again at the age of 14 at Salem United Methodist Church. In October, 1981 he was called by God to receive the work of the ministry. From June 1982-1985 he served as the pastor at Haygood United Methodist Church. He attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA for two summers under the Biblical Studies program. In December of 1985 Lynn and his family moved to Alexandria, AL where he became pastor of Agape Christian Fellowship in June of the same year.Lynn's History:Pastor Lynn Childress was born in Geraldine, AL, where he lived until he graduated high school in 1965. He then attended Northeast State Junior College in Scottsboro, AL. In 1967 he entered the U.S. Air Force and served through Vietnam in 1970. After his service to our country he returned home to Geraldine and won the heart of Shelia Richey. On March 6, 1971, Lynn and Sheila were married. They then both attended and graduated from Alabama A & M University. Lynn taught high school Agribusiness for 17 years before leaving in August of 1990 to serve full time in ministry at Agape Christian Fellowship. Sheila continues to teach school at Alexandria Elementary. Pastor Lynn and Sheila have two daughters and sons in laws: Shelena and her husband Anthony Cofield, and Shelley and her husband Michael Martin. Michael and Shelley have given the family three grandchildren Michaela, Emma, and Isabella Martin.Lynn's Miracle:In June of 2002 Pator Lynn suffered a severe brain aneurysm. He was rushed to UAB hospital in Birmingham, AL, and was unresponsive his first night. The doctors were not optimistic on the condition he would be in on the following morning. During that first night, Pator Lynn's family along with the saints of Agape prayed for a miracle. Early the next morning the actual bleed could not be located. The breathing apparatus was removed, and Lynn was responsive. Even though the CAT scans from the previous day showed the medium size bleed, the doctors could not locate it.Pastor Lynn stayed 2 weeks in NICU and had to have a shunt placed in his brain to dump excess spinal fluid. To the doctors disbelief that would also soon no longer be needed. Praise Jesus for Pastor Lynn's total healing!

Outreach Ministry
Raize is the Student Ministry of Agape Christian Fellowship and exists to provide a friendly and safe environment for students 7th 12th grade to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Raize has students from almost every school in Calhoun County. The word Raize was formed by combining two words: Raise and Raze. Raise means to build up or to bring forth. On the other hand, Raze means to destroy or to tear down. So, Raise + Raze = Raize. Raizemeans to bring forth the Kingdom of God through revelation, prayer, and worship AND to tear down and destroy the works of the devil.Raize meets every Wednesday. From 6:00-7:00 pm, students hang out, spend time together, and participate in activities such as playing volleyball outside, drinking coffee in the cafe, eating snacks made by the famous Raize Grannies, and watching Christian music videos! From 7:00 8:30 pm, the official service starts and includes worship with The Joshua Project, sermon illustrations/videos, skits, Bible studies, a message from the Youth Pastor /Leader, and/or small group discussions. Ultimately, Raize exists to advance the Kingdom of God on the earth together.
Everyday Kids is the Childrens Ministry of Agape Christian Fellowship.Everyday Kids is a place for children to be confident of who they are in Christ and a place where they are praying for others, sharing their faith, and operating as a part of the whole Body of Christ, We want to see the children moving and operating outside the church in their schools and communities with confidence and not embarrassment. The primary gathering of Everyday Kids is on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM with the Everyday Kids Childrens Church. This service is for all kids from K-6th grade. We offer an Everyday Kids Jr. Service for the preschool and toddler ages. A typical service includes engaging worship, crazy games, silly skits, and in-depth Bible teaching on a kids level. Our midweek program on Wednesday nights involves small group classes focused on an age appropriate Bible study. Wednesday nights are typically more laid back and allow the children to relax with children around the same age.
Agape Alive is an outreach and evangelism program at Agape Christian Fellowship. The primary mission of the group is to fulfill the great comission and reach the lost and hurting for Christ. Through a combination of visitation, follow-up, large outreach, and member focused programs Agape, Alive hopes to build the kingdom of God and strengthen the local body of Christ. The upcoming year will hold many new program features such as monthly mailouts, age specific outreach and teaching programs, and new member and visitor programs. Without a strong evangelistic effort the local Five Fold ministry can not carry out their individual roles in the Kingdom...

New Year New Worship!
For some time now, I have felt God preparing me for a change or shift in our worshipthrough music at Agape. I have tried to remain open to whatever God wanted to do. Itruly love music, and I love being able to lead you in worship to our awesome God. Withthat said, God wants to stretch us individually and corporately this next year. He hasgiven me a plan for 2012 to deepen and strengthen our worship of Him corporately. Thisplan is comprised of having multiple worship leaders and teams rotate leading the musiceach week.God spoke to me earlier this year and told me to make room for musicians that I willsend to Agape. I knew that expanding our current team wasnt really an option as ourstage barely handles what we have now. Plus, I knew that adding more people wouldresult in more practice time together and that wasnt a viable option at this time. Then, awhole plan came together about how different teams could be formed to lead worship ona rotating schedule. This was not a hasty decision; it is one that has been prayed about, discussed with godly counsel, and presented to the current worship team. There are benefits to having multiple teams. For one, the current team members that sodiligently practice and prepare for services week in-and-out now have the opportunityto be free to worship. They can more easily take time with their families and schedulevacations. Also, more people in the local body have the opportunity to utilize theirtalents and gifts in music. So, it is with great excitement that I share this news with you! I ask that you keep anopen mind and heart as we move forward. I pray that God will grant you the excitementthat is in my heart as well! All for Him,Shelena CofieldWorship Pastor

The Refuge
In 2010, God instructed Pastor Lynn to have the Agape body of believers to begin giving money to make the building behind the church sanctuary into a functional facility. The main intent of the facility was to serve the Raize youth, as they had outgrown the house where they currently held services. In addition, the facility was to be used for church-wide fellowships and a place for the men and ladies groups to meet during the week. The facility has been named The Refuge. The word refuge means a place or state of safety. It is shelter or protection from danger or distress. Since the main function of The Refuge is to provide a meeting place for Agape's youth, it seems fitting for it to provide a place for them to freely worship God without fear. The main construction and finishing of the building is complete. The kitchen and second bathroom are the next priorities on the list of areas to tackle in this build. Weekly money continues to be brought in for the expanding of the lingdom as well as the completion of this God given vision. Agape is committed to finish this building debt-free and believes that is Gods plan for them.God desires that the church at large awaken a generation of young people with a passion to worship Him. Agape is working to be a part!

Never Give Up
Do you feel like giving up? Maybe youve wanted to give up on your kids, your job, your spouse, your ministry, your life. Be encouraged this day! You are not alone. Everyone feels this way sometimes. God hears your heart and knows what youre going through. As believers in Christ, we must understand that satan would like nothing better than to destroy us! In fact, he is trying to do just that! So, first of all, you must recognize that satan is after you. He wants you to feel that your world is crumbling, that everything is going to the pits, and that no one understands you! He wants you to quit. He wants you to give up.Now that you recognize satans plan you must resist him and flee from him as fast as you can. How do you do that? Pump yourself up! Here are some steps to take:1) Speak Gods Word, the Bible, to yourself. Even David, a man after Gods own heart suffered. He recognized, though, that he had to tell himself to put your hope in God. Psalm 42: 5-6 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.2) Praise God despite your circumstances. Notice in the verse above in #1 that David follows speaking to himself with for I will yet praise Him. As believers, we must praise God despite how we feel and what is going on in our lives. In addition, youll be amazed at how your perspective changes about your dilemma when you praise God.3) Pray in the Spirit in all occasions by using the prayer language God has given you. This will build up your spirit. Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.4) Pray. Pray. Pray MORE. God tells us to present our requests to Him. Remember that He is the God that saves us! God loves us! Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.5) Trust God. To trust someone is to rely on them, to believe in them. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding6) Go to God for answers first, instead of always going to others. Remember that the God that led Moses and the Israelites out of the wilderness is the same God you serve. He will lead you through this time if youll let Him.7) Set your face like flint. In the Old Testament, Isaiah writes in 50:7 Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame. In other words, he isnt going to flinch. Hes going to keep his head up and keep on keeping on even though others may try to disgrace him. 8) Hang in therelike a hair in a biscuit. This is a proverb from our Senior Pastor that you will frequently hear from people at Agape. Its funny, but so true. It will help you get through the toughest of times.
